A quick overview of December's most popular trends on TikTok and Instagram

TikTok Trends

Ceiling Challenge

Creative Trend: TikTok users are utilizing just their ceilings and tape as a way to prop their phones for a unique angle. Whether they’re making a meal, attending a holiday party, cleaning the dishes, decorating their space, or simply spending cherished time with their furry friends, these videos filmed in different locations have gone viral, engaging audiences all around.

Sample Concept: Talent will use the unique shooting style to create content with your brand and product(s) placed front and center in short, entertaining clips.

Sample Beauty Integration: Talent will create captivating content spotlighting your brand and product(s) effortlessly. Imagine them getting ready in front of their vanity space or in their bathrooms, or even taking a much needed self care bath. Clips could include using their fingertips to showcase the product textures, adding the products to their skin, dancing to the song and more.

Sample Automobile Integration: Instead of just using the ceiling in your home, creators can take this trend on the road and use their car ceiling for another point of view. Talent can showcase premium vehicle features and highlight how much fun they have in your car (picture a birdseye of a road trip, driving to brunch with besties, or jamming out while they run their errands).

Being vs. Telling

Creative Trend: Things aren't always what they appear, and that's exactly what this trend is highlighting. By showing two photos, one appearing more emotional or messy and the other looking much more put together, this trend is all about sharing how something may appear versus how it actually is.

Sample Concept: Creators will take two photos; one showing themselves upset or stressed when they run out of Brand's product, or what life was like before finding Brand's product, and then the other showing themselves more put together and proud as they tell others that they love Brand's product and couldn't live without it.

Sample Travel Integration: Travelling may look glamorous, but in reality it can be highly stressful and expensive. Creators will lean into this dichotomy by showing a picture of them with mascara running down their face post-cry, with TO stating "What it's like to scour the internet looking for an affordable flight to Europe" with the second, more put-together photo, showing what it's like "getting on the plane after finding the perfect flight using Brand's travel service."

Sample Entertainment Integration: Everyone knows the experience of following a TV or movie franchise, loving the characters, and then experiencing an emotional roller coaster when the plot gets harrowing. Let's use those raw emotions in this trend by featuring a photo of a creator crying or shocked with their eyes wide with TO displaying, "Being a diehard fan of Network's show." In their second picture, the creator will be pictured in a great mood chatting with friends with TO explaining what it's like "telling everyone I'm a fan of Network's show."

Gift Guides

With over 1.4M posts, #giftguide is just the inspiration you need when it comes to purchasing the perfect gift for your loved ones this holiday season. Brands and influencers alike have been partaking by curating their own specialized gift guides, catered to the specific people (or pets!) in your life.

Holiday Itineraries

For many Instagram users, the holidays mean time for travel. This is certainly true this year, with hashtags such as #holidaytrip at 340K posts and counting even before December began. Whether people are showing off their trips to Europe, Asia, or elsewhere, it's clear that the travel bug is spreading. Many are even posting their exact itineraries to help others plan their own dream holiday trips.
